A Wonderful Memory

my infected lymph node is feeling much better already...the swell is getting smaller...hope it'll be gone soon...haha...oh n for those who don't know...my bday jz passed..was on the 26th...Sunday la...hahaha..

it was by far the best i had...after church that day pete bought cake for me n they all sang happy bday song to me in the worship team debriefing room...haha...thanx man...and tat nite i had a simple party with all my closest frens...from church n also frm skool...it was kinda hard to entertain all of them cos they like separated into 2 groups...haha..but we all had fun anyways...at least i did...around 25 ppl came...had dinner..talked..push ppl into the pool n jz hang around...heheh...missed Fran n Ben thou...Ben called me up to talk for a while...thanx ben...we miss u...haha..and Frances Lyn Mei Shen wished me happy birthday on her blog...uiseh...hahaha...Thank you!! miss u too..."I..........WISH u were here" hahaha...remember?

so yeah...my bday started well...and also ended well...real well...very happy about it...wanna knw wat happened? ask me personally la when we're chatting or sumtin...dont wanna say here...hehehe...so...jz wanna take this opportunity to thank everyone who came...Thanx for making my last bday here so memorable n happy...thanx for the prez ( Nad n Kim too) hahaha..only u knw wat im talking about...and also...thanx to YOU who treated me so nicely throughout my whole week cos u named it my "birthday week"...and most of all thank my parents for letting me haf this party n also the freedom...hahaha...

and one more thing i wanna say is...I CAN DRIVE SOON!!!! hahaha....

Holding Love's Horses

I met my wife 15 years ago. She was the most attractive girl I had ever laid my eyes upon. It wasn’t just her obvious external beauty, but she possessed an inner spark.

We got married in September 1995. And I have not regretted the decision ever since.

February not only marks the month of Valentine’s Day, but the month of our engagement 11 years ago. Sandra has shown to be not only a beautiful companion, but a true and faithful partner in every sense of the word. I remember a period when we were struggling financially, literally living from hand to mouth. I turned to her apologetically, feeling a deep sense of disappointment that I could not better provide for her. But before I could say a word, she reassured me that even if we had to sell nasi lemak to stay alive, we would do it together.

How can you not love a wife like that? Thankfully, no one has yet to taste our version of nasi lemak.

For many years during our younger days, there were loads—I am tempted to use the word ‘toads’, but I’ll refrain—of guys who had Sandra on the top of their list. One time, I casually mentioned to a group of friends that she had just entered the room, to which one of them remarked without provocation, “Dream on, brother!” Well, I did just that—I dreamt. And I’ve never stopped dreaming.

It was, however, a long wait to see that dream come to pass. It was only three-and-a-half years later before I had the chance and courage to tell Sandra that I had ‘feelings for her’. She then asked for another six months to ‘consider’ before she could give me an answer. Talk about stopping someone in their romantic tracks. But since I had already waited patiently for 42 months, I figured another six couldn’t hurt.

Now, I believe that the more precious the dream is, the longer the wait will be. Hearing Sandra say ‘yes’ to me after four years of waiting was an indescribable feeling. And I would not trade the entire experience for anything else.

Nobody likes to wait these days. Everything about modern technology is designed to cut any time lag. Hollywood’s own fall in-fall out kind of romance is a popular path of love for young people today, yet so many of them have been left hanging, hurting and in need of healing. It’s sad to note as well that those who have walked the road before have chosen to remain silent by the sidelines.

Silent is not what Sandra and I have decided to do with our union. We see ourselves as a team, one that can make the difference in the lives of emerging men and women, husbands and wives of the future. We want to see marriages that last. We want this generation to understand that if people are willing to spend at least three years to earn a degree, they should be willing to spend substantial quality time towards building a relationship that should last a lifetime.

It's something to think about amidst the flowers, chocolates, candle-lit dinners and soft toys. Whether hitched or ditched, we hope you would remember that the most cherished things in life come to those who wait.
